FREEDOM IS ASSUMED! LA LIBERTÉ S'ASSUME!

Image
English version   In 1990, when the Gabonese people, with the students at the forefront, came out to demand political and social change for the country, they wanted a free and democratic Gabon. It was this slogan that made many women and men thirsting for freedom, dignity and modernity in the country. It is still the case; We presume.   In 2024, the regime has changed, but the beautiful slogan of yesteryear has very quickly been eclipsed by another one now calling for a less civilian and rather military state. Today, many citizens are calling for such a state to be established. This is an outrage.   We who say that fundamentally, power should not be in the hands of the military but should be in the hands of civilians; are accused of all of Israel's sins.   The inclusive national dialogue has just concluded. Findings have been published. But these conclusions are insufficient, because we still wonder what the Gabon of tomorrow will be made of:   •

RESPECT IN THE FACE OF DEATH DOES NOT MEAN COMPLACENCY! LE RESPECT DEVANT LA MORT NE VEUT PAS DIRE QU’ON SOIT COMPLAISANT

Image
English version   Antoine de Padoue Mboumbou-Miyakou is dead; We respect his departure and the grief of his family.   Nevertheless, the truth compels us to say that on the tombstone of Antoine de Padoue Mboumbou-Miyakou, should be inscribed: "Here lies, the one who in 1993 proclaimed false results of the presidential election".   Before history, the duty of remembrance requires us to conform to the strict truth. Our leaders should be judged by their achievements, by their strengths and weaknesses. Honoring someone after their death doesn't mean that they should be portrayed as being perfect, in fact their flaws should be highlighted, if these flaws had a significant impact on the country.   It is not unfair to hold Antoine de Padoue Mboumbou-Miyakou responsible for the persistence of Bongo’s dictatorship. So, unlike others, he made the choice to not rise above what Omar Bongo wanted and side with the Gabonese people. No, he chose to remain loyal

English Version   Privacy is privacy, and people's love lives are none of the state's business.   Brice-Clotaire Oligui-Nguema, unfortunately, in his wake, also drains elements of social dissonance. The state is very important; but the state stops at the door of citizens' property. The state must not enter our bedrooms.   When it is said that Gabonese whose spouses are foreigners will no longer be able to have access to certain positions of responsibility, this may seem reasonable to those who do not think about such things or do not think much. But to the prudent person, this is an excessive measure that is hardly justified.   Do you think that if Ali Bongo had married a genuine Gabonese woman, the result would have been different? What nationality is Patience Dabany? How does she behave? What nationality is Marie-Madeleine Mborantsuo? How does she behave?   If this new bill were applied retrospectively, Leon Mba would not have been eligible b
